Pivotal has provided written evidence to the NI Assembly Finance Committee about the proposed draft multi-year budget.
The amount of day-to-day funding available to the Northern Ireland Executive in 2026-27 will generate unprecedented pressures. Total funding next year will be lower in cash terms that what Departments have spent this year. The Executive and Departments will face difficult and unpopular choices about efficiencies, public sector pay, reductions in spending, and revenue raising. Without these decisions, further overspends in future years are inevitable.
All of this underlines the urgent need to accelerate transformation in public services, so that they affordable now and in the future.
